1. How will my bequest be used?

You can specify that your donation be used for designated groups/services, or allocated at PLK’s discretion to support projects or people in need. Our benefactors’ wishes will be fully honoured.

 

2. What types of bequests are accepted?

There are three ways of bequest to PLK to show your kindness:

  • Estate Bequest
  • Insurance Bequest
  • Condolence GIft Donation

 

3. Donation Receipt

Upon completion of a bequest, a donation receipt will be issued for record with the information provided by our benefactor.

 

4. About Estate Bequest

4.1 I'm alone and do not have a suitable person as executor of my will. Can i ask PLK to assume the role?

We propose that the executor be someone you know and trust. If you wish to have PLK as executor fo your will, please contact us to provide relevant information.

 

4.2 If the entire estate is bequeathed to PLK, would PLK cover the cost of drawing up the will?

The lawyer who draws up a will represents the benefactor, and provides legal opinion from the benefactor’s perspective (not PLK’s). PLK will refrain from covering the legal fee for drawing up the will.

 

4.3 Could PLK refer a lawyer for drawing up a will?

The lawyer who draws up a will represents the benefactor, and provides legal opinion from the benefactor’s perspective (not PLK’s). PLK will refrain from referring a lawyer. A will is an important document. As such, we propose our benefactor assign the task to his/her trusted lawyer. If you do not yet have a lawyer, please refer to the website of the Law Society of Hong Kong to find a list of lawyers who can provide legal services on wills and probate.

 

4.4 After drawing up a will, shall I give PLK a copy for record?

After drawing up your will, please keep it in a safe place (such as a safe deposit box) and inform people you trust (such as the will’s executor, or family and friends) that a will has been drawn up and where it is safely kept. It is entirely your personal decision whether you share a copy of the will with PLK. You can also complete the PLK Bequest Intention Form online to inform us of your decision to include PLK in your will.

 

4.5 Is there a minimum bequest amount?

Estate bequest is a kind gesture by our benefactors to leave a legacy of love. There is no minimum bequest requirement.

 

4.6 Does PLK only accept monetary bequest?

Other than monetary bequest, benefactors can bequeath other forms of assets, including stocks, real estate, gold and jewellery. You can list in detail the value of the bequest items and how they should be allocated.

 

5. Insurance Bequest

5.1 What information shall be included to name PLK as a life insurance beneficiary?

5.2 Is there a minimum bequest amount?

Insurance bequest is a kind gesture by our benefactors to leave a legacy of love. There is no minimum bequest requirement.

 

5.3 Shall I give PLK a copy of my insurance policy for record?

After making an insurance bequest, you can inform the people you trust. We also suggest you fill in the PLK Bequest Intention form online to inform us of your insurance bequest to PLK.

 

6. Condolence Gifts Donation

6.1 Can I make a Condolence Gifts Donation in the name of a group?

Certainly. You can make an individual or group Condolence Gifts Donation or set up a memorial webpage for a legacy of love in memory of your loved one.

 

6.2 Is there a minimum bequest amount for each donation?

No. PLK believes that each condolence gifts donation is made in memory of a kind person as a legacy of love. PLK will make sure that each donation is used optimally to benefit those in need.

 

6.3 How to make such donation?

Donors can make a donation through direct bank transfer, crossed bank cheques or credit card. Please see the Condolence Gifts Donation Form for more details.
