Terrazzo

  • Terrazzo is a composite material commonly found in the construction of floor and wall in the past century.
  • Originating from Italy, terrazzo is a mixture of chips of marble, granite and glass. Blending with cement,  the material is grounded and polished to create an aesthetically pleasant and smooth surface.

  • Terrazzo found in the Main Building utilizes various colours, including yellow, green and red.

  • Trending in the early 20th century, terrazzo was commonly used to divide sections on surface and create varying patterns. Colourful patterns found on floors and walls are examples for the art deco design of the Main Building.
