Fence Wall

  • When construing the Po Leung Kuk headquarters, bamboos made of glazed tiles were chosen to as the wall encompassing the site.
  • The base for the bamboos were made of shanghai plaster, a type of cement plaster emerged in East Asia and commonly found in 1930s architecture.

  • The 1930s saw the rise of Chinese Renaissance Architectural style, which sought to combine traditional Chinese architecture with Western construction technology to create a modern interpretation of national architecture.

  • Bamboo walls created an enclosed and relaxed area for children living in the Kuk to play in the garden with adequate privacy.
