Since its establishment in 1878, Po Leung Kuk has been providing Residential Child Care Service to support and accompany needy children in local communities in Hong Kong. In the 1960s, Po Leung Kuk launched the Child Sponsorship Programme, inviting donations from kind-hearted individuals to support children in need. Regardless of the changing times and the difficulties faced by the children, Po Leung Kuk and all sponsors have always been trusted companions in the growth journey of needy children. 

 

Despite the challenges and hurdles that the children encountered in their very early stage of lives, your encouragement, support and love will enable the healthy and happy growth of these children. Become a sponsor and trusted companion for needy children in their growth and development.

How the Child Sponsorship Programme Supports Children

Donations will be used to expand and optimise Po Leung Kuk’s Child, Youth and Family Welfare Services to provide children and young people in need with comprehensive support such as residential care, nourishment of mind and body, professional support and development of potential.

Residential Care
 

Providing children and young people who have to live away from their families of origin with quality residential care services; providing a stable and loving home environment with personal care, nutritious meals and programmes.

Nourishment of mind and body
Nurturing children’s physical, mental and spiritual well-being with services including medical support, emotional support and positive development; valuing quality time with children and listening to their needs.

Professional Support
 

Providing various professional support for residential children with special education  needs, including training on gross motor and fine motor development, speech, interpersonal relationship, cognition and self-care.

Development of Potential 

Enabling children to learn about their interests and strengths through a variety of experiences and realise their own potential through training and activities

How to participate:

You may join Child Sponsorship or House Sponsorship︰

Child Sponsorship——
Building Relationship with the Child
  • Annual sponsorship fee is HK$1,500 for each child
  • Donor(s) may choose to be allocated with specific child(ren).  The allocation of child(ren) is arranged by Kuk.   
  • Donor with allocation of child(ren) can visit his/her sponsored child(ren) after attending the sponsorship orientation programme. 
  • Every child may be supported by more than one donor at the same time

House Sponsorship
  • Individual Sponsorship: HK$1,500 yearly per House (to join House activities individually)
  • Family Sponsorship: HK$2,250 yearly per House (a maximum of 4 members to join House activities)
  • Group/Corporate Sponsorship: HK$7,500 yearly per House (a maximum of 10 members to join House activities)
  • This type of Sponsorship is known as “Sunny Family Ambassador” or “Sunny Corporation Ambassador” whereby donor(s) is allocated to specific House(s).  Donor(s) will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and be invited to join the House's activities and visit the children there.

 All revenue generated from the Sponsorship Programme will be dedicated to develop and enhance the children, youth and families services.

 

Remarks: 
1.    Child Sponsorship is totally different from legal adoption, and it does not create any legal relationship between the donor and his/her sponsored child.  
2.    Joining the Child Sponsorship Programme is purely a benevolent act and will not give any privilege or priority to a sponsor who may also be interested in adoption. 
3.    The minimum term of Sponsorship is one year. All donations made will not be refunded.
4.    For sake of child’s welfare, the Kuk may reject an application for joining the Programme.
