Scope and amount to be granted

  1. Target beneficiaries should be elders (aged 60 or above) in need of financial support identified by Po Leung Kuk from its Elderly or Rehabilitation service units, and should meet any of the following criteria when submitting an application:
    1. Elders who have been diagnosed with a major critical illness, such as cancer, stroke, mild to severe dementia, eye diseases, long term illness and in need of timely support. Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $10,000 for each application.
    2. Frail elders who require end-of-life care to live their last stage of life with dignity. Provision of nursing and visiting medical practitioner service to prepare for their passing away in elderly homes. Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $12,000 for each application.
    3. Elders who want to turn their “dreams” into real possibilities. Lifelong learning brings happiness, wellbeing and a connection to the community. Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $2,000 for each application.
    4. Elders who lack family support and in need of daily life assistance, enhancement of home safety and environment. Escort service, home refurbishment, basic furniture and rehabilitation equipment can be provided. Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $12,000 for each application.
  2. Service users of Po Leung Kuk Child Residential Services and Child Care Services, who are 18 or under and with deprived family background
    1. To visit private specialists for consultation and medication, which helps applicants to avoid missing the golden time of treatment in times of queuing for public medical services. Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $10,000 for each application.
    2. To support children with special emotional, behavioral and educational needs:
      1. to have individual assessment. (each child may be entitled to a maximum of $5,000)
      2. to join training or therapeutic groups to enhance their adaptation in daily lives and learning. (each child may be entitled to a maximum of $5,000)
  3. Hong Kong residents facing sudden life changes, in accidents or unusual difficulties can be relieved by short term economic assistance. Referrals can be made by Po Leung Kuk social service units, government department (e.g. Social Welfare Department), statutory bodies (e.g. Hospital Authority) or subvented integrated family service centres . Beneficiaries may be entitled to a maximum of $6,000 for each application.
  4. Each beneficiary is entitled to every single aspect of financial assistance mentioned above once within 2 years.

Eligibility

  • Hong Kong residents
  • Referred by registered social workers of the Po Leung Kuk Social Service Department, or referred by the Po Leung Kuk Social Service Units (For scope 3, referrals from registered social workers of government department (e.g. Social Welfare Department), statutory bodies (e.g. Hospital Authority) or subvented integrated family service centres are also accepted)
  • Low income families: economic assessment will be conducted (Please refer to the application guidelines for details)
