The Foundation provides financial assistance and relief for those:

  • Who are poor and in urgent need to pay for their medical expenses or  purchase rehabilitative aids.
  • Who need to adjust their living conditions, such as installing handrails and Personal Emergency Link Service devices, undertaking urgent maintenance works, or acquiring essential furniture and electrical appliances.
  • Living in temporary shelters. We can help their expenses on travelling, food, child care services, school fees and textbooks for their children, etc.
  • Caught in sudden financial difficulty due to the death or hospitalisation of the primary income earner in their family, parents divorcing or separation. We can help with living expenses, school fees and textbooks for their children, etc.
  • Caught in financial difficulty caused by natural disasters, man-made disasters, or adversities as considered appropriate by the Committee of the Foundation on a case-by-case basis.

Eligibility

Those who comply with all of the below conditions are eligible to apply:

  • Be a Hong Kong citizen
  • Fall within the scope of the Foundation‘s predefined criteria
  • Referred by a registered social worker
  • Have never received a grant from this Foundation

Amount of grant

  • The exact amount in each grant is determined solely by the Foundation on a case-by-case basis, and cannot exceed HK$10,000.

Documents required for application

  • Application form.
  • Copies of Hong Kong Identity Card of the applicant and the grant recipient.
  • Recommendations by a registered social worker.
  • Any other documents that will facilitate the Committee in considering the application, such as reports from medical doctors and professionals, death certificate, income statements, address proof, bank passbooks/statements and receipts of major expenditures (e.g. rental).
  • If the referee of the application is also the provider of the goods under application for the grant, at least one more quotation from another supplier is required.

Important Notes

  • For applications for grant to purchase basic and essential furniture and electrical appliances
  • Applicants need to provide at least two quotations from different suppliers. After obtaining approval of their applications from the Foundation, the applicants should submit:

    If applicants are unable to present the invoice or receipt, the Foundation may consider waiving the requirement in exceptional circumstances.

    • an invoice of the goods to be purchased to the Foundation, who will then issue a cheque payable to the respective suppliers; or
    • receipt for reimbursement by the Foundation if the goods approved have already been purchased and paid for by the applicants. However, the Foundation will not accept any receipt for purchases made before the application is approved.
  • If any furniture or electrical appliances under consideration are deemed to be beyond the basic or essential needs of an average household, a written recommendation from a medical professional or registered social worker must be provided justifying the need of these items.
